WHS HANDICAP INDEX

What is a WHS number?

The World Handicap System (WHS) aims to bring six different handicap systems together into a single set of Rules for Handicapping, enabling golfers of different abilities to play and compete on a fair and equal basis, no matter how or where they play.

The Dirty Valley Golf Club requires its members obtain a WHS number. You can get a new WHS number (which replaces the GHIN number system) by joining the Northern California Golf Association (NCGA).

Associations and clubs sign up to use the service, allowing their member golfers to post scores, calculate handicaps and retrieve handicap information online about themselves or others, from any computer.

This allows Dirty Valley members and our tournament planners access to the Handicap Lookup page. On that page, anyone can search for the handicap index of any golfer, you know carries a USGA (now called WHS) Handicap. All you need to know is the golfer’s name and the state in which he or she plays golf.

The best deal we have found so far is to join the Lemoore Golf Course Men’s Club. This membership offers you the following:

The Lemoore Men’s Club is $130 annually ($120 if you buy before 1/1/2020)

As illustrated above this membership has the ability to pay for itself if you use it at least once a month. Not to mention that you get one dozen free golf balls too.
